I planned my first wedding in 2009; it was my mom and stepdad's wedding. Planning my their wedding opened my eyes to my passion for planning and my resourcefulness. It was a small wedding at a local hotel, but the entire night was all about my mom and stepdad. It was all about our families and we had so much fun! I realized that I was able to manage such an important event and coordinate the vendors and handle all the details.
I love intimate gatherings! I planned a few more weddings, parties and coordinated a number of events since my mom's wedding, and my passion for planning has grown and is continuing to grow. As I planned more, I learned more about what styles I liked and what inspired me! I am inspired by simplicity, elegance and unique features. I like putting twists on traditions and trends. See more about me on my About Me page.
This summer in celebration of being in business for 1 year (I can't believe it!), I planned my first Styled Wedding Shoot. It was amazing! I worked with the best vendors and venues! We were a great team! I started planning in June and the shoot was August 4th at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel and The Tower Club at Tysons.
My vision for the shoot was elegance with a combination of vintage and modern elements. I wanted it to feel elegant and regal. So I pulled together the elements that I loved and wanted represented in the shoot and I created my vision board. I used gold, cream and red as my color palette. I incorporated lace and spiral throughout the design for the shoot - lace is part of my brand and the shoot was inspired by the Spiral Staircase at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel. Two other key components in the shoot, was the bride's dress (lace, beading and spiral designs throughout the dress) and the gold/cream spiral table linen.
Here is a sneak peak of the gown and tablescape.
In regards to choosing models for the shoot, I knew I wanted to have a mixed race couple. I wanted to share with potential clients that I am able to work with all couples and I am the other half of a mixed race couple. Check out the last picture in this post, where I shout out my biggest supporter, John. And I had the best people to be models for the shoot...Shacura and Jason!
I had the best time planning this styled shoot! I am looking forward to sharing the rest of the pictures in a collection with you. Coming Soon!
Thank you again to all the vendors that collaborated on this shoot! I look forward to working with you again!
